Fresh pomegranates on a wooden board.

THE FOODS OF MYTHOLOGY

POMEGRANATE FOR MEMORY

A Pomegranate has Urolithin A complex within it which helps stimulate mitophagy, a recycling system to sweep out damaged mitochondria cells. A few stem-cell scientists from Maryland, Denmark, Shanghai and Norway had tested these pomegranates on three mice and noticed significant improved learning and memory. It also showed evidence of the restoration of such a recycling system of the mitochondria and lysosomes, which is a critical function to break down carbs and proteins.

Going back to the Greek Mythology for a moment — we know learning and memory stem from the hippocampus of the brain, ie., Pegasus. Chronic stress shrinks the hippocampus, which explains the root cause of forgetfulness. If the hippocampus is damaged, or has shrunk — Pegasus cannot take flight. Our ascent, inspiration and awakening is therefore dampened. And I find it interesting that Pegasus was born from the blood of Medusa, which is red — like the Pomegranate. But, may be going too deep into the weeds there.

I purchased pomegranate supplements two weeks ago and have taken it every morning. I plan on purchasing actual pomegranate seeds as the fruit itself is not sold in my stores currently. I will see if it is available in the late fall/winter, as that seems to be it’s peak season. In the mean-time, I have noticed some improvement in this short window. I don’t feel as “brain tired” as I normally do after work. The ability to focus for longer appears to have improved as well. I will report back sometime in Q4 — and maybe, just once, I will remember where I put the keys.

HONEY FOR THE UPPER DIGESTIVE TRACT

Hippocrates, the father of medicine wrote: "Honey and pollen cause warmth, clean sores and ulcers, soften hard ulcers of lips, heal carbuncles and running sores." He utilized specific mixtures like oxymel (honey and vinegar) for pain and hydromel (honey and water) to soothe fevers and sore throats.

Honey is a by-product of flower nectar. Yes, but its also the by-product of the upper aero-digestive tract of honey bee. Honey combats up to 60 species of bacteria, fungi and viruses in the upper region of the body. Not just coating the esophagus to prevent coughing, it can be an aide on acid reflux and heartburn, the side-effects. Because of it's thickness, it stil coats its way down after couple days and weeks of constant usage. It can reduce the presence, by soaking it up, the bacteria for salmonella, E. coli, and C. diff.

Abdominal pain, cramping, fever, nausea -- try Honey first, assuming no allergies. It's cheaper than the rest.

Tidbits

Honey & Water: Sooth fever & throat

Honey & Vinegar: sooth pain

Vaseline + Medical-Grade Honey + Bandage Dressing for wounds.

GOAT MILK

GOAT MILK FOR THE LOWER DIGESTIVE TRACTS

The Gods treated Goat Milk as Nectar. When Zeus was hidden away from Cronos by his mother, the young baby Zeus was nurtured by nymphs who fed him Honey and Milk. The milk came from  Amalthea, a goat, where its name means "to soothe", "to soften". Goat milk's fat globules are smaller, so the stomach can process and absorb it better than cow's milk; therefore reducing bloat and gas. The goat milk increases gastric emptying because our stomachs can process the smaller globules.

There are studies on the following that can be researched further:

  1. Goat milk's composition and its effectiveness in managing dermatological conditions like eczema and psoriasis
  2. Goat milk increases gastric emptying and alters caecal short chain fatty acid profile compared with cow milk
  3. Goat Milk Supplementation Modulates the Mitochondrial Metabolic Flexibility and Orexin-A Levels Influencing the Inflammatory Pattern (ie., reducing oxidative stress)
  4. Goat milk lowers the circulating levels of Orexin-A

It has benefits that cow's milk does not. The stomach would prefer it over the raw cow's milk; and definitely prefer it over processed milk that has zero natural benefits left.

Tidbits

Goat milk has higher levels of tryptophan - needed for production of Serotonin (mood stabilizer) and Melatonin (sleep).

Higher level of A2 cysteine which helps the body to metabolize iron and copper

  • Tryptophan and A2 Cysteine levels improve skin cell restoration (combats aging)

LUSTRAL WATER: sea salt + SPRING water

MEANS OF PURIFICATION

The ocean consists two main dissolved ions: sodium and chloride (table salt): vital for the body to regulate fluids, send nerve signals (calm, excited). A pinch is all that is needed. If foods consumed consist high amounts of sodium, this is the cause of your blood boiling, we are now not regulated, but imbalanced.

Your brain needs salt (specifically sodium) to survive and work right. It uses sodium to send electrical signals between nerve cells, manage fluid balance, and control thinking. But overdoing it, excess, can lead to damage. A tincture is all that is needed.

*Modern Sea Salt (less processed):  MgSO4 - Magnesium Sulfate (Epsom Salt, used to prevent seizures),  CaSO4 - Calcium Sulfate (hardens the water),  CaCl2 - Calcium Chloride (calcium, chlorine) - regulates  autolysis, the self digestion of cells or proteins by their own enzymes,  KCl (Potassium Chloride - used as fertilizer for plants, helps regulate hypokalemia, maintain fluid and electrolyte balance in the body).

IMPORTANCE OF SEA SALT

Ἰφιγένεια: All man's pollutions doth the salt sea cleanse.

  • A cleanser
  • Brain needs it for electrical charges
  • Proper levels support clarity, thinking ability, memory
  • Too Little: Confusion, fatigue, muscle twitching, seizures
  • Too Much: High blood pressure, stroke, memory decline
